Taylor Racing Components from Team UC Irvine Formula SAE 2002
This is our general set-up for the 2002 Formula car. What you can purchase from Taylor Racing are the tripod bearings, the races, the cv guards, the boots, and the half-shaft.(the taylor set-up is completely assembled at the bottom of the picture) [zip ties not included] |
|
Here's a closer look at the tripod bearing and race. The circlip is also purchased seperately. You must machine the circlip groove and cut the halfshaft to length(as mentioned in the Taylor-Race flyer for FSAE)
The white piece seen here is made from Delrin and stops the tripod from plunging too deeply.
Here the stopper is pulled out and reveals a spring that allows the stopper to plunge a little. The rest of the cv was machined and the stub axle, that has the splined end to pick up the hub, is welded to it.
This is a picture of the other CV/stub axle piece. This part connects to the race and is an output from the diferential.
